Chief Operating Officer
Urban Entrepreneur Partnership Inc. (UEP)
"As a former professional athlete, I understand the importance of coaching, teamwork and discipline. These values are as fundamental to entrepreneurial success as to gridiron success, which is why we give our UEP clients the advantages of a personalized coach and a team of experts to help them develop sustainable businesses."
Kevin Lockett, chief operating officer for the Urban Entrepreneur Partnership Inc. (UEP), joined the Kauffman Foundation in 2004 as an entrepreneur-in-residence. Since that time, in addition to raising angel investment funds for Kansas City businesses, he has served as a UEP business coach, assisting clients with accounting, financial analysis, operations management, and project management.
A former professional football player, Mr. Lockett owned and operated a business during his NFL career. In 1998 he and his family formed a nonprofit organization that encourages academic achievement in public schools.
Mr. Lockett earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Kansas State University and currently serves his alma mater as a member of the Board of Directors of the KSU Foundation and on several Foundation Board committees addressing investments, accounting and risk management. He also serves on KSU's Advisory Board for the Center of Advancement and Entrepreneurship, and the President's Advisory Council on Intercollegiate Athletics, including the Fiscal Integrity and Long-Range Planning Subcommittees.
